Felling and dismantling

We remove dead, dangerous and unsuitable trees. Where a tree stands close to a house, shed, greenhouse or other structure, we dismantle it in controlled sections and can lower each piece by rope to protect the surrounding property.

Crown reduction, pruning and pollarding

Pruning maintains a treeu2019s natural form, removes unsuitable growth and can improve light levels beneath the canopy. Where appropriate for the species, pollarding provides a structured way to control long-term crown size and future growth.

Stump grinding

We grind the stump below ground level so the area can be replanted, paved or prepared for construction.

Deadwood and crown cleaning

We remove dead, damaged and hazardous branches to improve safety, reduce the risk of branch failure and support the treeu2019s long-term condition.

Tree surveys and inspections

Professional tree reports for insurance claims, mortgage surveys, planning applications and Tree Preservation Order matters.

Emergency and storm damage

Fallen, storm-damaged and unstable trees are made safe and cleared promptly. Visit our Emergency Tree Work page for further information.

We recently hired Penny Tree Surgery and Landscaping for a big garden project and couldn't be happier. They did a brilliant job with our new brick retaining wall and stairs, patio repointing, new fencing, and tree surgery on our gum tree. The work is excellent, the finish is fantastic, and everything was completed exactly as quoted. They are a great bunch of guys - A big thanks to Bruce, Jacob, and Darren and Jack (fantastic brickies!). If you want a friendly, professional, reliable, and highly skilled team for your landscaping or tree surgery needs, look no further. We highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use their services again in the future! Many thanks!

Bruce and his team have just completed the installion of a set of steps and a handrail at the front of our property. They have done an excellent job and we would not hesitate to use them again. The team are hard-working and they coped well with difficult (and changeable) weather conditions as the job progressed. They were always very polite, easy to deal with and they kept the site tidy. A pleasure to have them working on our property. Definitely recommended!

This is a follow up review to the one submitted perviously following tree and shrub management undertaken in January in our recently acquired garden. At the time, we were very pleased with the whole team, but Bruce was amazing; taking the time to talk the work through, make suggestions and explain the tasks. The trees and shrubs are now in leaf and/or blossom (hence review 2) so we can really see how successful the work has been. Very happy with the team, very pleased with the work and we would say the service has been outstanding. We would highly recommend.

Bruce and the Team did some great work in our new garden. We moved into our new home in the Bembridge area 3 months ago and the garden need some work: 1) large trees needing cutting back / pollarding; 2) numerous small / medium trees and shrubs clearing and grinding out; 3) approx a dozen medium and large tree stumps grinding out; 4) new fencing and clearance at the side / front garden; 5) a brand new 13 metre long raised bed with sleepers. The work was completed over 3.5 days. We are very happy with the outcome and quality of the work and look forward to enjoying the garden in spring / summer. Bruce and the team were very polite and discussed options, the work and quoted costs clearly in advance. They also gave the garden a good old tidy after the work too so we had no mess at all to deal with afterwards. Would certainly recommend them.

Your tree questions, answered

Get in touch

How much does tree surgery cost on the Isle of Wight?

Every tree is different, so we assess the species, size, condition, access and surrounding hazards during a free site visit. You then receive a fixed written quotation, typically within 24 hours of the assessment, with no obligation to proceed.

How quickly can you give me a quote?

We acknowledge enquiries the same day and arrange a free site visit within two working days. After the assessment, we typically confirm the fixed price in writing within 24 hours.

Are you insured?

We carry comprehensive 10,000,000 pound insurance cover for every project, including public liability, professional indemnity, personal accident cover for all crew members, specialist climbing insurance and cover for our vehicles, machinery and equipment. Current certificates and policy details are available on request.

What happens to the wood and waste?

We remove wood, branches and debris from the site and dispose of them under our Environment Agency waste carrier registration. Or if you like to keep them, that can be arranged.

Do you offer a tree survey on the Isle of Wight?

Yes. A survey provides a clear report for insurance claims, planning, mortgage surveys and Tree Preservation Order applications. Following assessment, we may also advise on an appropriate inspection interval.

When is the best time to prune or pollard a tree?

The best time depends on the tree species, its condition and the purpose of the work. Many deciduous trees are pruned during late winter while dormant, and pollarding is generally carried out in late winter or early spring. Some species require summer pruning, so we identify the tree and recommend the correct timing during the site assessment. Urgent safety work can be completed when necessary, provided active bird nests and other protected wildlife are not disturbed.

Do you remove tree stumps as well?

We can grind the stump out below ground, so you can reuse the space to plant, pave or build over it.

Can you deal with a storm-damaged or dangerous tree quickly?

We can prioritise genuine emergencies, make fallen or unstable trees safe and clear the affected area promptly. For urgent call-outs, see our emergency tree work page.
